Rain or Shine prevails over Meralco to boost top-2 finish


Rain or Shine Elasto Painters finished the elimination round with an 88-85 escape act over the Meralco Bolts in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome Friday evening.

With an 8-3 win-loss card, the E-Painters thus improved their top-two chances which comes with a twice-to-beat advantage, while the Bolts dropped down to tenth place at 3-6.

James Yap top scored for Rain or Shine with 14 points, while three more ended up in double figures in the team’s well-distributed offense.

Ed Daquioag had 12 points, while Maverick Ahanmisi and Javee Mocon added 10 markers apiece as the Elasto Painters leaned on Beau Belga and Gabe Norwood’s splits from the line to come out triumphant.

Nico Salva scored 18 points to lead Meralco. Reynel Hugnatan had 16 points and six rebounds, while Baser Amer and Bryan Faundo had 10 markers apiece in a losing effort.
